Let’s talk vision boards! Have you created your vision board yet? Every January I assemble my vision board to help set and manifest my goals for the year! It’s so therapeutic to not only see how far I’ve come but where I still want to go as well. I personally find creating vision boards to be fun, relaxing, and a way to visualize so much hope and potential for the future! I’ve created plenty of vision boards over the course of my lifetime and I do believe that they have helped manifest some of my biggest dreams and goals that I have accomplished thus far. So in an effort to help you manifest the life of your dreams here are my top tips I’ve learned over the years to create a vision board that will surely help manifest the life you envision for yourself:
1. Be Specific
Before you even start creating your vision board it’s important to write down your dreams, goals, and aspirations for the year no matter how big or small! This will help you filter through what you really want to accomplish and to get very specific. In my experience the more specific you are the more accurately you will manifest your dreams! Remember if YOU aren’t even sure exactly what you want how is the universe supposed to know what to give you?! Get specific!
2. Give thanks
I can not stress enough how important this step is to manifesting! Before you start creating your board make sure you’re in a happy carefree mood. Set the tone: put on some good music, light a candle, pray, or anything else that brings you joy! Manifesting is all about energy so we want to make sure that we not only have positive energy while creating our vision board but we want to thank the universe as if we already have everything on the board as well. In my experience the fastest way to manifest is to give thanks and show gratitude!
3. Split your board into sections
Once you decide what your goals and dreams are for the year I would focus on anywhere between 3-5 specific goals for your vision board. Studies show that if we have too many goals we are less likely to achieve them because we will feel overwhelmed. I split my goals into sections: love, career, health, finances, etc and I put my main goal, dream, or aspiration in the middle of the board since that will be my first and main priority for the year. This section will always be my largest section too so that I will see and focus slightly more on this goal than the rest. If you want all your goals to be of equal significance that’s fine too. It’s your vision board and your life so that is completely up to you! However, I do think you will find that there is always one dream your heart will lean towards slightly more than the others! ❤️
4. Add photos from your past
Alright, this might be my favorite tip of all! So here’s the deal..when you are manifesting and creating a vision board you want to live and give thanks as if all your manifestations are already here. Part of doing that is not only adding things that you would like to have in your future but adding photos or accomplishments from your past and present! This confuses the universe on the timeline meaning the universe (or your subconscious) doesn’t know what is past, present, or future which makes the universe work harder on delivering everything to you NOW!
5. Add both smaller and bigger dreams
When making your board make sure to add both smaller and bigger dreams. If you only add bigger dreams your ego might get the best of you and you just might convince yourself that you aren’t capable of achieving so many big goals! This is vision board sabotage! So add those smaller dreams that you know you can accomplish to give you the confidence to chase those bigger goals!
6. Put yourself on your board
Put yourself on your vision board so you can see yourself as part of the reality you are trying to create! I personally like to add myself to each section but at the very least add yourself to the center of the board. How on earth are you ever going to manifest the life of your dreams if you don’t physically put yourself in the center of that life aka the center of your board?
7. If you’re skeptical about a goal, don’t put it on your board
Let’s talk about goals for a minute! I genuinely believe that you already have whatever it takes inside you to achieve everything and anything beyond your wildest dreams! I truly believe that you wouldn’t have that dream in your heart if you weren’t equipped to achieve it. Having said that if you have major doubts about accomplishing those big dreams do NOT put it on your board. You want your board to be a space full of positivity and certainty. Any doubt can and will affect your ability to achieve your dreams. So work on those smaller goals, work on KNOWING you can achieve and deserve that huge dream, and then try again next week, next month, or next year. You don’t want to sabotage your manifestations before they even start!
8. Don’t be afraid to take your own photos
This is actually a very powerful tool to manifesting your dreams! This tip goes back to being specific. I like to take my own photos of very specific things I want to manifest or create in my world and print them out for my vision board. For example, let’s say you have been dreaming of living in a particular neighborhood in your city. Don’t just cut out photos of nice houses out of home magazines! Actually go to that neighborhood in your city and take photos of the neighborhood, a street sign of the street you want to live on, or even the exact house you want to buy! This really personalizes your vision and gives the universe very specific instructions on what to give to you!
9. Add words of affirmation
As humans we tend to get in our own way and sabotage our own success even if it’s just subconsciously. While it’s perfectly normal and part of human nature we want to do our best to try not to sabotage our own happiness. So once my board is just about complete I like to go through and randomly sprinkle words of affirmation to remind myself that I am worthy of happiness and I am capable of achieving my dreams. If you look at my board you’ll see I added words such as “unbeatable” and “deserve” to remind myself that nothing can stop me from achieving these goals! I also added the word “easy” several times throughout my board to manifest my dreams coming true without a ton of struggle!
10. Don’t be afraid to add a color scheme or “make it pretty!”
I know there are a lot of you ladies (and maybe some men too) out there that are not only into creating vision boards but into making it look aesthetically pleasing as well. If that’s for you then you’re in luck because a color scheme is a great way to bring out certain emotions that will help you achieve your vision board goals. If you want to stir up particular emotions when looking at your board then choose a color based on the exact emotion you want to feel! Here’s what each color generally represent:
- Red: Energy, passion, love, leadership, willpower, grounded
- Orange: Creativity, enthusiasm, abundance, warmth, determination
- Yellow: Happiness, hope, spontaneity, positivity, inner strength, joy
- Green: Wealth, growth, harmony, nature, compassion
- Blue: Calm, trust, intelligence, stability, loyalty
- Purple: Spirituality, luxury, ambition, confidence
- Pink: Femininity, playfulness, romance, patience, self love
- Brown: Wholesomeness, warmth, honesty, security, foundation
- Black: Elegance, power, sophistication, mystery, protection
- White: Minimalism, simplicity, purity, illumination, perfection
- Gray: Professionalism, formality, calm, stability
- Gold: Wealth, success, courage, wisdom
- Silver: Wealth, success, glamour, grace
11. Focus on what you want, not what you don’t want
What we focus on expands! That’s just a scientific fact. So why would we focus on what we don’t want and don’t have when we can focus on what we do want instead? If you focus too much on what you don’t want you will begin to attract all those unpleasant things! So make sure to create a vision board with ONLY all the good things you will be manifesting into your life!
12. Put your vision board in a spot where you will see it and focus on it daily
Once you are finished find a special spot in your home to display your board where you can see it everyday. Ideally you would place your vision board somewhere in your bedroom where you can see it first thing in the morning. Make sure that every day you glance it over and give thanks to everything on your board as if you already have everything you are manifesting! I promise the more you give thanks and show gratitude the more positive you will attract!
13. Extra Tips
Take a photo of your vision board so you can look at it on your phone any time you need some extra motivation or want to give extra thanks!
Couples can also make joint vision boards! Each person should have their own side where they can create their own goals and then the middle can be saved for you and your partner’s joint goals!
Make sure your vision board is not too huge otherwise you might feel overwhelmed with too many things to achieve but you also want to make sure your vision board isn’t too small so you have enough room to really manifest your dreams!
